Help Us Create Hope and Build Stronger Futures for Chicago’s Communities

At Of Color Inc., we believe that real change is sparked by courageous leadership, lived experience, and shared purpose. Founded by Renita White in 2016 and incorporated in 2019, our nonprofit is powered by African American women, but built to serve all people across the city of Chicago, especially those impacted by systemic inequity, housing instability, and workforce disconnection.

As we celebrate five years of measurable impact, we are looking to grow our Board of Directors from 9 to 11 members with individuals who bring the expertise, network, and passion needed to move our mission forward.

Help Us Make a Difference

We’re seeking exceptional individuals to join our dynamic board of nine, helping us expand to a full roster of 11 board members. We welcome applications from:

  • Established professionals with deep knowledge in fundraising, legal, financial, or governance matters
  • Influential leaders with strong community or corporate networks
  • Changemakers with lived experience in housing insecurity, youth development, or veteran services (including one young professional eager to lend their voice and journey)

Why Join Us?

Serving on our board is more than a title, it’s a chance to:

  • Champion equity by ensuring marginalized communities have access to housing, employment, and opportunity
  • Collaborate with a passionate, mission-driven team
  • Build strategic connections with leaders and changemakers across sectors

Commitment & Expectations

  • Board Meetings: 4x/year (weekday evenings)
